In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have over come the world – John 16:33.
As Christians, we have so much to deal with. We live in a world beset with violence, sorrow, disasters, suffering, poverty and death. We face temptations, trials, hardships, disappointments and heartbreak. We fight against an enemy described as a “roaring lion seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). And we encounter situations or challenges that make us question our faith and God.
Jesus warned us that we would have tribulation in this world same as He did when He was here. Nothing has changed, except, perhaps, things have gotten worse and will continue to get worse. Yet, He encourages us to be cheerful because like Him, we will overcome.
We have hope which will keep us grounded in our faith and trust in the Lord until He comes. In spite of the trials we may go through, we must not allow ourselves to be defeated. We must press on, using our time and resources to share the Gospel with others so that they too can be over-comers in Christ when they face the fiery trials.
When life throws you a curve ball, don’t look down but look up and remember, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Faith in Jesus is what gives you the victory to overcome the world.
